Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC)

The Livingston Parish Public Schools (LPPS) Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) provides advice and feedback regarding special education policies, procedures, programs, and resources. The SEAC also engages in outreach activities throughout the Livingston Parish community to increase knowledge, support, and collaboration related to special education.

The SEAC shall meet at least three times each year and shall submit a written report of its activities to the LPPS Superintendent and the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) Special Education Advisory Panel in May of each year. The Superintendent will ensure that the written report is posted on the district website.

SEAC Membership

The LPPS Special Education Advisory Council consists of eight members. Membership is comprised of:

  • 50% parents or legal guardians of students with disabilities
  • 25% teachers, principals, and related service providers
  • 25% other special education stakeholders

SEAC membership is established in accordance with Louisiana Act 576.

Membership Opportunities

The LPPS Special Education Advisory Council is not currently seeking membership for any positions.

Individuals interested in participating in the SEAC may complete the Livingston Parish Public Schools Application for SEAC Membership when membership opportunities become available.

The Livingston Parish Public Schools Special Education Advisory Council meets at 4:00 p.m. on the following dates:

  • September 15th, 2026
  • November 
  • January 
  • February  

SEAC Meeting Location

All SEAC meetings are held at the LPPS Special Education Building (the building with the brown shingled roof).
